Overwhelming workloads, excessive bureaucracy and inadequate support are driving doctors, nurses, pharmacists, pathologists and countless others to leave their professions across Europe. These dedicated men and women care for cancer patients during their most challenging moments. Now it’s up to us to provide caregivers with the support they need – the support they deserve.
The European Cancer Community Foundation works to address critical issues facing the healthcare workforce. Many solutions are already at hand, and the Foundation provides financial support to bring them to fruition. Many more creative approaches, however, are urgently needed.
The Foundation’s European Workforce Fund supported pilot projects aimed at improving processes and working conditions to enhance professional wellbeing and patient care. The Fund also committed to supporting initiatives that prioritised diversity, equality, and inclusion within the oncology workforce.
Grant applications were accepted from the cancer workforce and community organisations across Europe. Successful applications had to fall into one of the seven categories, ranging from workforce planning to reducing bureaucracy.
For more information on the application procedure and eligibility, applicants were directed to visit the dedicated webpage. Applications were collected until 1 October. Each application was assessed based on individual merit and the availability of funds. Grant recipients were announced at the European European Cancer Summit in Brussels in November.
